CHRISTMAS WORKSHOP

It's a time filled with the Christmas spirit as children of all ages gathered at First Congregational Church of Wauwatosa for the annual Christmas Workshop on Dec. 4.

For the cost of only a few quarters children were able create Christmas crafts to give as gifts or keep as their own. A few of the items were reindeer ornaments, metallic mini Christmas trees, gingerbread men magnets, and handprint Christmas aprons.

Below are photographs of the event.

Sharon Petrie helps Grace Anderson (6), Sydnney Islam (6), and Cedric Williams (8), make beaded votives during First Congregational Church of Wauwatosa's Christmas Workshop. Petrie has been volunteering at the event for 4 years now.

Hayden Doyle, (2), begins work on his gingerbread man magnet. The crafts at the Christmas Workshop were easy enough for children of all ages to make.

Senior Minister, Rev. Steven Peay, looks over the shoulder of Madeline Cummings (9) while she puts the finishing touches on her handprint Christmas apron, which she is making as a gift for her dad Bill.

Jack Lockhart (10), Ian Reid (10), and Christopher McAttee (11) discuss what song they want to play next. The three played Christmas music throughout the event.

Hannah Davidson (9) paints the hand of Colleen Rowbottom (10) helping Rowbottom to make her handprint Christmas apron. "I'd rather help than do it myself," says Hannah, one of the youngest volunteers at the Christmas Workshop.

Claire Gordee (12) helps her friend Zoe Hawthorne (6) to make a beaded Christmas bracelet. They met each other as book buddies while Zoe was in kindergarten.

Julia Schmitt watches her son Tommy (3) as he makes a beaded cross bookmark. This is Tommy's second year at the Christmas Workshop.

Shania Davis (9) works on his beaded Christmas bracelet. Shania was with a group of over 30 kids from Pilgrim Congregational Church.

ROSEBUD THEATER

A while ago I drove out to 6823 W. North Avenue to photograph the Rosebud Theater for The Leader.

The photograph below was published on Oct. 13 in the article "More Than Just a Bloody Sled: The Rosebud Theater and Draft House isn't your everyday theater," by Kyle Sternitzky.

POKER NIGHT

The following two photographs were published in The Leader on Nov. 23 2005. The first was printed in the hard copy of the paper and the second was just online.

They were published in the article "Poker Players Hold Up In Rec Center" by Kyle Sorvick.
